The Thin Line
If an Academy Award for Best Documentary can’t make you watch Man On A Wire, nothing probably will. But because I think it is important, I’m going to try anyways.
Man On A Wire chronicles the story of Philippe Petit, the man famous for walking a thin line between the two towers of the World Trade Center. I mean that in the most literal of terms. Petit walked on a wire, without a harness, between the Twin Towers for 45 minutes on a cloudy day in 1974.
You are probably wondering why you need to watch an entire ninety minute movie just to see one guy make a single tightrope walk. But the reason Man On A Wire is so great isn’t just because a man walks on a rope between two really big buildings. Dancing across the tightrope was the easy part. It was getting to the top that was so challenging.
